Description

What is Clairette?

Clairette tablets treat moderate and severe types of acne caused by hormonal changes. This medication is often used as a treatment when other medicines have not been sufficient. These pills are effective alone or in combination with topical formulations, e.g., Acnecide gel.

How does it work?

These tablets contain two active ingredients. Cyproterone acetate (2mg), which has anti-androgen properties and ethinylestradiol (35mcg), an analogue of the female hormone oestrogen. Blocking the androgens reduces sebum production, which blocks the skin pores, causing acne. These androgens also cause excessive hair growth in women. Therefore, these tablets are sometimes prescribed for treating facial hair (hirsutism) in women.

Is the Clairette tablet suitable for me?

These tablets are useful for women in their reproductive years with concerns pertaining to facial hair growth, oily skin and/or acne.
